VATICAN, Oct 11, 01 (CWNews.com) - Pope John Paul II led the Synod of Bishops in a prayer service this morning, commemorating the victims of the terrorist attack on the US one month ago, and praying for peace in the world.
The Holy Father had called for the special prayer service, which was held after the regular chanting of the Office of Lauds in the Synod Hall. The bishops offered prayers for those who died on September 11, for world leaders, for the conversion of the terrorists, and for "all the children of Abraham."
At the close of the day's discussions, the bishops joined once again in prayer, offering the Rosary for the cause of peace.
