VATICAN CITY, MARCH 24, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The display of images of prisoners of war «offends the dignity of man,» the Vatican's semiofficial newspaper said.
An article published in the Tuesday daily edition of L'Osservatore Romano, reports on the technique of Saddam Hussein's regime to show «the brutal pictures of the victims and prisoners shown as trophies.»
Headlined «A Display That Offends the Dignity of Man,» the article «recalls dark periods of history.»
«The images coming from the front, transmitted by numerous television stations, have taken to homes throughout the world the horror of war, brutally showing the effect of the use of arms which, although they are technologically advanced, are made to kill, like those of former times,» the article laments.
