KONIGSTEIN, Germany, MARCH 27, 2003 (Zenit.org).- Archbishop Fernando Filoni, the papal nuncio in Baghdad, is visiting religious communities and hospitals to offer spiritual consolation to those wounded in the war.

This was confirmed by the secretariat of the apostolic nunciature in Amman, Jordan, in a report to the Catholic organization Aid to the Church in Need.

«Christians seek refuge in churches and pastoral centers, where they pray uninterruptedly, and where they stay also during the night,» the report quoted sources as saying.

Aid to the Church in Need gave the nunciature a donation of 20,000 euros ($21,350) for food and medicine for the Iraqi population.
