CASTEL GANDOLFO, Italy, APRIL 30, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The Holy See hopes that postwar Iraq will «be a state in which there is total religious liberty,» says the Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Angelo Sodano.
The new Iraq should be able to «give testimony that it is possible to live together, holding hands, and that this is the destiny of humanity,» the cardinal added, as an aside while attending a Marian congress here.
