ROME, MAY 12, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The Caritas-Iraq network managed to send two new convoys of emergency aid to Baghdad and Mosul on Sunday.
The first convoy came from Amman carrying 20 tons of medical supplies to be distributed to hospitals in Baghdad, Al Kindi, Ibn Al Nafees, Al Abweih, and Al Rahbat.
A second convoy, chartered in Hassake (Syria), arrived in Mosul with food and medicine donated by the Council of Churches of the Middle East. Local Caritas personnel are in charge of the distribution of the goods.
In addition to the two convoys, the mobile medical unit provided by Caritas-Holland, continues its medical assistance to people in the Duhok and Eerbil area, northern Iraq.
Caritas-Damascus reported a total of 555 Iraqi refugee families amounting to some 3,000 people, half of whom are receiving emergency aid from the Caritas network in the region.
