Tyrkia og Israel samarbeider for å trekke til seg kristne pilegrimer

ANKARA (CWNews.com) - The Turkish government announced on Tuesday that it had entered into an agreement with Israel for a $2 million joint advertising campaign to attract Christian pilgrims to sites in both countries.

"Our campaign is aimed particularly at transatlantic visitors," Turkish Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu said. "Once they've come all this way, it makes sense to offer them a joint package."

Turkey, a primarily Muslim country, contains some of the oldest Christian sites outside of Israel, including many churches founded by St. Paul and Ephesus where St. John was bishop for a time and wrote his Gospel and where the Virgin Mary was apparently assumed into heaven.
